We are aware of very convincing scams which can result in a customer panicking and feeling a sense of urgency to make a payment to a fraudulent account.
These scams happen most often when there is a different name on the recipient's account to the name on the account that customers have been instructed to pay.
We have placed a temporary payment limit on these payees so that our customers have time to stop and think whether this is a genuine payment and can take time to verify the caller.
Starling Bank will never call you and ask you to move your money to another account.
The temporary payment limit will only apply to new payees that have been set up where we have not been able to verify the name on the account with the receiving bank.
Please get in touch with our Customer Service team if you need to make an urgent payment to a payee where we have placed a temporary payment limit.
